Wheelchair Transport Van Stolen From Melrose-Wakefield Hospital


A BOX TRUCK AND A CAR WERE ALSO INVOLVED. ONE PERSON WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. NO WORD ON WHAT CAUSED THE CRASH. WE’RE FOLLOWING A DEVELOPING STORY OUT OF MELROSE AFTER A TRANSPORT VAN WAS STOLEN FROM OUTSIDE A HOSPITAL. POLICE NOW TRYING TO TRACK DOWN THE VAN. WBZ’S MICHELLE FISHER REPORTS FROM WAKEFIELD. THAT TRANSPORT VAN ARRIVED TO PICK UP A PATIENT WHO WAS BEING DISCHARGED WHEN POLICE SAY AN UNKNOWN SUSPECT STOLE THE VEHICLE FROM RIGHT OUTSIDE THE EMERGENCY ROOM DOORS. THIS IS THE CHAIR CAR POLICE CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR. A 2016 FORD TRANSIT NONEMERGENCY VAN WITH MASSACHUSETTS AMBULANCE PLATE NUMBER 2744. IT WAS TAKEN AFTER 6:30 THIS MORNING FROM MELROSE WAKEFIELD HOSPITAL. NO PATIENTS ON BOARD AT THE TIME. AND THE COMPANY THAT OWNS THE VEHICLE SAYS NO MEDICATIONS OR MEDICAL EQUIPMENT WERE INSIDE EITHER. MELROSE POLICE ARE CURRENTLY INVESTIGATING AND ASKED THAT
