Student Health Services Overview

Student health services, an accredited
medical facility, delivers high quality health care and excellent customer
service to students enrolled at ECU. In order to provide busy students with
convenient access to care, we offer two locations. Our main campus Student Health
Center is located between Joyner library and the Flanagan building. Our Health
Sciences location is on the second floor of the Health Sciences Student Center. We
care for students whose medical needs cover a wide spectrum. Including:
preventive care, treatment for illnesses and injuries, and management of chronic
issues. College Health is a specialty area of health care and we are
knowledgeable and committed to helping students optimize their health and
wellness, become educated healthcare consumers, and maximize their academic
success. Privacy and confidentiality are of utmost concern to us. We want students
to trust us and feel comfortable during their visit; knowing that their protected
health care information cannot be shared with anyone including parents, friends, or
professors without their written permission. Main campus student health
offers a wide variety of services; in addition to primary care services we
have lab, pharmacy, digital x-ray, nutrition counseling, allergy
immunotherapy, travel clinic, immunizations, referrals, and medical
record services on-site. At our Health Sciences location; students
can access primary care, lab, immunizations, referrals, and medical
record services. If student health is closed, a free 24-hour nurse advice line
is always available. Appointments can be made by phone, by visiting our
appointment office inside Student Health, or by going online to My Pirate Chart. Most appointments are same day so students can receive care when they are
sick or injured. Appointments do usually fill up and are in high demand; so we
strongly encourage students to schedule an appointment early in the day. When
arriving for an appointment, arrive at least 15 minutes early and bring any
needed forms for medical records. Clinical staff are fully licensed,
credentialed, and certified in the respective disciplines. Our provider
staff is comprised of, physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants;
with specialties in women’s health emergency medicine, sports medicine, and
Family Practice. In addition we have a large team of registered nurses, nursing
assistants, x-ray technologists, laboratory technicians, pharmacists, and
registered dietitians. Fees paid by students through their
tuition help to keep prices low and in some cases enable us to offer some
services for free. Distance education students can also utilize student health
services by paying a small fee with each visit. For more information about fees,
insurance, and payment options visit our website. We value and respect the
diversity of our campus community. Student health strives to always provide
inclusive sensitive and respectful care. We take patient comments and feedback
very seriously and always welcome students to share their experiences
suggestions and ideas for how we provide care. Our staff has vast experience in
college health and is dedicated to helping all students make the most of
their experience at ECU. Our services, proximity to campus life, quality of care,
and affordability make ECU Student Health a wonderful option for the health
care needs of all students. Hello my name is LaNika Wright, the director of
