Robert Lobel, MD, Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiologist – Burlington, VT, The UVM Medical Center

(gentle music) – Hello, my name is Bob Lobel, and I’m a clinical cardiac
electrophysiologist. I have some roots here
in the state of Vermont. My family was here in the
late ’60s and early ’70s, so I was essentially born and raised here. I came back and did all my undergraduate as well as fellowship and
residency training here, so I think I have a good feel
for health care in Vermont and what the people of
Vermont enjoy and like and what their values are, and
I think that’s very helpful. I always try to make a
personal connection with people when I’m seeing them, and I think being a
local person really helps in that regard. You get great access to
ongoing clinical trials and new research that’s
happening in all the fields, not just cardiology, but
in all our subspecialities. One example of that is with a special type of pacing we do called His-bundle pacing, so the things we do in the research world will translate very
nicely to things we can do in the clinical world. And I think those opportunities
are ones you only get at a research center or at
an academic medical center. (gentle music)
