Penn State Children’s Hospital : Making Donations to the Child Life Program

[Music] The communities surrounding Penn State Children’s
Hospital are so generous! Yeah, thanks to lots of donations, kids in
the hospital are able to enjoy a new toy, book, game or craft during the holidays, birthdays,
BINGO games, for therapeutic play with child life, as a reward for finishing a test or
procedure or for entertainment or distraction. I sure appreciated the new white board I got
while I was in the hospital. We are incredibly grateful for the support
from so many individuals, families and organizations in our community. The donations they provide allow us to help
make a hospital stay just a little bit easier for a child and family. For anyone interested in donating items to
the Children’s Hospital, we do have some guidelines that we need to follow, to ensure the safety
of our patients. All items donated must be brand new. Gently used or used items are not permitted. Donated items should not be gift wrapped,
but gift wrapping supplies can be included with your donation. We cannot accept: handwritten cards and notes,
homemade food items or crocheted hats for infants. For the safety and privacy of our patients
and families, we do not allow individuals or groups to hand deliver donations directly
to our patients. When considering donating items to the Children’s
Hospital, keep in mind that there are kids of all ages here—newborn babies to teenagers
who are 18 years old—and everyone likes the opportunity to get something new while
they’re in the hospital. Some of the things that kids really like include
craft kits and craft supplies, board and card games, books, puzzles, small Lego kits, and
coloring books, crayons also markers. Anyone who has a donation or is interested
in donating to the Children’s Hospital should call the Child Life office to schedule a date
and time to deliver the items. Please call 717-531-8366. To all those who have donated toys and items
to the Children’s Hospital and to those who are thinking about collecting and donating
items to the Children’s Hospital THANK YOU!
