Nima Golchin, MD – Interventional Radiologist in Ames, Iowa | McFarland Clinic

My name is Nima Golchin. I’m an
interventional radiologist. I joined McFarland Clinic in 2019. I work
primarily in Ames. My specialty is in Interventional Radiology. I chose it because I get to combine a lot
of aspects of diagnostic radiology where we diagnose conditions using CT, x-ray, MRI,
and then we actually get to treat those conditions using those imaging techniques for the patients. An interventional radiologist treats a wide
variety of conditions including diseases of the vasculature–arteries and veins–as
well as diseases elsewhere in the body such as benign or even malignant tumors in the
liver, kidney, bone, etc. What I really enjoy about being an interventional
radiologist is that I get to actually help a lot of people who are in unique situations. A lot of patients come to me with unique conditions
that require a specialist’s service that they’ve seen somebody else for that referred them
to me to see if I can do something that nobody else
really can do. When I hear the phrase “Extraordinary Care,
Every Day,” what I think about is how I would want my loved ones, my family, my
friends to be treated because I was born here. I grew up here. I want my patients to experience the same
level care I would expect to be given to my family or my loved ones. So that’s what I
expect to give to my patients.
