New VA Clinic to be built in Worcester, MA

Hi, I’m Ryan Lilly, the Director of the VA
New England Healthcare System. I’m very proud to announce that our newest
community-based outpatient clinic will be breaking ground in Worcester,
Massachusetts on the campus of the University of Massachusetts Medical
School. Projected to open in the fall of 2021, it will be a 53,000 square foot,
state-of-the-art facility with the latest in health care innovations to
support a growing Veteran population in central Massachusetts. The new clinic, by
combining primary and all specialty care into one facility, will improve the
coordination of care and access for the Veterans we serve. And… it will facilitate
and foster even greater collaboration with community health providers and with
our UMass academic affiliate. It was the vision of many people, most notably Mr.
John Collins, the Director of VA Central Western Massachusetts, and his entire
team of VA professionals. Mr. Collins, a retired US Army Colonel,
grew up just a few miles from where this clinic will be built. This announcement
marks a crowning achievement of his 35 years of combined military and federal
service to our nation. This achievement would not have been possible without the
exceptional planning efforts of the VA Central Western Massachusetts Healthcare System over the past several years and the support of Congressman Jim
McGovern. Veterans in Greater Worcester have long advocated for dedicated health
care and an expansion of services. At town halls and forums they asked VA for
a new clinic and we have listened. The new Worcester clinic is a critical step
in improving the delivery of care for Veterans in New England. Congratulations
to all who have made this day possible. You have my commitment in supporting
the hard work still to come with the many phases of construction and ensuring
all future milestones stay on track. Congratulations team
