Meet Steve Horan, MD | OrthoONE at Swedish Medical Center

(upbeat music) – My name is Steve Horan,
I’m an orthopedic surgeon in Englewood, Colorado
at Swedish Health Center. I practice orthopedic sports medicine and have been at this facility and facilities in Southwest
Denver for about 20 years. I am a native Coloradan. I have been here my whole life. Not planned but it just
worked out that way. I’ve done all my training,
undergrad, graduate, medical school, internship and training including residency and a
sports medicine fellowship all in the state of Colorado under the University of Colorado. My specialty is sports medicine. I like that sort of medicine. Orthopedics is all of
musculoskeletal medicine. My partners do total joint replacements but I really appreciate
the sports aspect of it. Fixing athletic injuries and traumas so that they can get back to doing the things they wanna do. The thing that I find
fascinating about medicine is it’s always interesting. You really never know
what every day will bring. It’s a new challenge. You get new people. You get outside, you
get into different areas and different arenas and that’s one of the better parts of medicine. Because I practice in sports medicine because I usually like the
active self motivated patient, it’s my role I think to
get them back to doing what they like to do in the first place. If they’ve had an injury with sports or just the activities of daily living, I want em to be able to enjoy life. I see patients from young
people in their pre-teens to people who are retired. If you are young, you wanna be active, you wanna participate in
the things your friends are. If you’re retired, hey
you worked pretty hard now is your time you wanna be able to do the things you wanna do. Part of the fun for me is
to try to get them back to doing those exact things. (upbeat music)
