I wanted to go into the nursing profession for as long as I can remember. I think there was a brief period of time in high school where I thought maybe I should try something like marine Biology and that just didn’t resonate, so I stuck with my true passion of taking care of others And it’s been a very rewarding profession. The most important thing for me is that patients again feel that they can trust me. Women’s health is a very vulnerable and sometimes intimate sharing of problems and feeling comfortable with your provider is super important. I see a range of different issues anywhere from someone That’s just coming in for a well woman annual exam to someone who’s struggling with fertility issues. I do different procedures, such as inserting IUDs and biopsies. Even if we don’t have an answer to their problem at that moment I want them to know that I will work to find an answer to their problem. I love to cook. I love to decorate. Of course I love spending time with my family and my animals. I’m a big nature lover. I have three children and two stepchildren and a husband and of course two dogs in a cat. I used to have backyard chickens, and I really loved them until we found out that they weren’t legal in West Des Moines, so we were harboring illegal citizens, and we had to get rid of them. I laugh more of myself than probably anything. My kids usually make fun of me and say you’re the only one that’s laughing and that makes me laugh even harder because I’m really not that funny but I think I am so. I just took a knitting class, so that I don’t spend too much time on my phone at night. So something to keep my hands busy. I’ve been a part of this community for a really long time and UnityPoint has always been the A Team. As a member of the community here I’ve always known that they are a standard above the rest and to be a part of UnityPoint clinic is very humbling and I’m truly honored to be a part of this team.
