Meet Dr. Justin Rufener, Ear, Nose & Throat Doctor at The Oregon Clinic

My name is Justin Rufener, I’m an otolaryngologist, or also known as an Ear, Nose & Throat
physician with The Oregon Clinic. I really like otolaryngology because it gives me an
opportunity to see a variety of problems. There’s very interesting anatomy in
head and neck region and I get to see patients young and old
male or female and help them with both medical and surgical
approaches to their problems. So, my treatment philosophy is
that I like to provide a patient with as much
information I can about their problem and the potential solutions. In doing so I hope to be able to educate people so
that we can make a decision together about what’s the best option for
them. I think as a physician I’m most rewarded when I’m able to help patients with their problems or find solutions or surgical cures for
but they come see me about. I mainly live in Portland because it’s close to my family – both my family and my wife’s family live nearby – but I also really enjoy the outdoor
opportunities in the city itself. I’ve always been interested in the outdoors, living in Oregon there’s an opportunity to do a lot of things
outside. I enjoy mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding and kite-surfing. Well I’ve done the Providence Bridge Pedal a number of times and it gives you a chance to see the bridges
from a different perspective. I have to say I think I like the Fremont
bridge the best, a least seeing it from above. I really like
both the coast and the mountains, but I guess it depends on the time of the year. In the winter I spend my time in
the mountains in the summer definitely more time at the coast. Well, being from the
University of Oregon, I’m definitely a duck at heart.
