Meet Dr. Jim Regan, Gastroenterologist with The Oregon Clinic

My name is Jim Regan and I’m a
gastroenterologist with The Oregon Clinic Gastroenterology – East Division. I grew up in Southern Oregon and I moved
away to Connecticut. I attended Yale University. I came back to Oregon to OHSU for my medical degree and then I moved
once again to Minneapolis then on to Chicago for
my residency and my fellowship. Along the way I got married, had a family, and came back here in 1998. I am a general gastroenterologist and
treat all manners of digestive disease but in particular I
have a focus on advanced endoscopy. I do endoscopic ultrasound and ERCP and
manage disorders of the pancreas, liver and
bile duct. I think it for everyone the door the
future opens when they’re young and they get a glimpse of what they wanna do, and for me that happened at about age 16
when I knew that I wanted to be a physician. It was only later after experience in
medical school and residency that I felt myself drawn to gastroenterology. I would like to travel and visit all 59 up the US National Parks and I’ve made it
maybe about half way so far. Well not many people know this but I am
also guitarist and singer and I play in a couple of local groups and have been enjoyed doing that since I
was a teenager. I love the Pacific Northwest and enjoy Portland because it is so close to the outdoors and within half an hour or an hour you can
be either skiing, you can be at the beach, or you can be in the Columbia Gorge on
a trail.
