– Hello, my name is Doctor Matthew Alif and I’m a Vascular Surgeon. I think one of the things that I’ve brought to our vascular practice here at the University of
Vermont Medical Center is newer, minimally invasive techniques for treating aortic aneurysms, which allows patients to
have a better quality of life immediately after the surgery. They’re ambulating faster with less pain, typically discharged on the
first post-operative day. My philosophy of care is to take care of the entire patient, comprehensive care. Vascular disease is a systemic illness, one that affects all parts of the body, although I may meet a
patient with one problem, it’s not uncommon for them to have other vascular disease problems in other parts of their body. One thing I would like patients to know that are coming to see me is that I see my relationship with every
patient and their family as a team relationship. Vascular surgery is a team sport. I can’t do everything on my own. It takes a lot to get through
some of the operations that we offer and having
a supportive family is essential.
