I’m Dr. Matt Hollander and I’m a
pediatric rheumatologist. I chose medicine because my younger
brother had gotten suddenly very ill. I was in high school, and seeing his long
recovery was, you know, very influential in my decision to go into medicine and
particularly help kids. The most rewarding aspect of my job is
being able to interact with kids every day. You know, they really teach us adults
how to have fun and how to develop resilience to difficult situations.
There’s a lot of times when I think families are really going through hard
times and, you know, we’ll see young kids or older adolescents just kind of roll with
the punches, so to speak, so it’s been really inspiring.
