Man rushed to hospital in critical condition after Woonsocket house fire

(KK) FIRST TONIGHT — BREAKING NEWS OUT OF WOONSOCKET WHERE FIRE CREWS WERE BATTLING A HOUSE FIRE – THIS WAS THE SCENE ON NORTH MAIN STREET IN WONSOCKET AROUND SEVEN O’CLOCK TONIGHT. YOU CAN SEE — THE FLAMES APPEARED TO HAVE CAUSED HEAVY DAMAGE TO A PORCH. WHILE THE FLAMES ARE OUT NOW — WE’VE JUST LEARNED FROM POLICE THAT A 64-YEAR-OLD MAN WAS RUSHED TO THE HOSPITAL. EYEWITNESS NEWS REPORTER COURTNEY CARTER IS ON SCENE WITH THE LATEST FROM FIRST RESPONDERS. A FIRE BROKE OUT ON NORTH MAIN STREET THIS EVENING, LEAVING ONE MAN IN THE HOSPITAL AND HIS DOG DECEASED… WOONSOCKET POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT WERE CALLED TO 345 NORTH MAIN STREET SHORTLY AFTER 7 P-M SATURDAY EVENING… “we were called in initially for a structure fire, our fire station is only a few hundred yards down the road, we responded very quickly to arrive to find heavy black smoke coming out of the opposite side of the building” THE FIRE BROKE OUT ON THE 2ND FLOOR OF THE APARTMENT BUILDING.. AND ALTHOUGH WITNESSES AND FIRE CREWS SAY IT WAS QUICKLY PUT OUT.. IT LEFT A 64 YEAR OLD MAN INJURED… “unfortunately we did locate a male victim in the residence, he was unconscious and breathing and they quickly removed him and took him to Rhode Island hospital” ..AND IN CRITICAL CONDITION. THERE WAS ALSO A DOG IN THE APARTMENT DURING THE FIRE.. “unfortunately there was also a dog deceased in the building” NATIONAL GRID, THE AMERICAN RED CROSS AND THE FIRE MARSHALL WERE ALSO ON SCENE. THE DEPUTY CHIEF SAYS THERE IS NO WORD ON AN OFFICIAL CAUSE AT THIS TIME AND THE FIRE IS STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION.
