Kathy Ramirez, APRN Lawrence Urology Specialists

My name is Kathy Ramirez and I’m a nurse practitioner and I work at Lawrence Urology Specialists. I have been a nurse for 20 years and I love being a nurse. I love taking care of people. I love
helping people, you know figure out what’s going on with them and helping
them achieve their best quality of life and I felt like I just needed to take a
step further and get my advanced practice license, and you know help people. I feel like I offer a unique point of view because I have so much
surgical experience I know what they’re gonna be going through. If they come to
see me and they need surgery for one of their urologic conditions, I know what
they’re gonna be going through I can take them through every step from the
beginning to the end, because I’ve taken care of patients, from the beginning to
the end, in that every face. And then I can see them post-op as well. See how
they’re doing three weeks out. A more well-rounded holistic approach to
patient care. We want to know how this diagnosis is affecting their life, their daily life, how is affecting their relationships, with their kids with their
families, with their husbands and wives. What are they involved in that this
diagnosis is hindering them? How is it hindering them? How is it important to them, to get it fixed? Because sometimes we can have a medical condition, and who cares? it doesn’t bother us. We can go on we’re not going to die from it. It’s okay. And just hearing that from a practitioner, I think you know. Yes, you
have this condition, but it’s okay you’re not going to die from it and you can do
your, you can live your daily life and be okay. I think hearing that is refreshing to patients and comforting and that’s what I want to do is I want
to I want to help them live their life to the fullest! Quality over quantity. I’m gonna care about them. That I want them to live their life to the fullest. That I want good outcomes for them. Or the best outcomes that they can have. I want them to know that I, I want them to be their best. Their best selves that they can be. And I want to help them achieve that. I do think people should
feel empowered about their healthcare. Don’t take someone’s word for it. Investigate. Ask questions. Be your own advocate for your healthcare. Be empowered, to take care of yourself. Because we’re here to take care of you,
but really, the only person that can take care of you, is you. And you’ve got to
take charge! We can’t do it for you but, we are here to guide you. It’s right here. It’s local, we’re family here. We treat each other like family so it’s really easy to
treat our patients like family. It’s close by. With the the explosion of
computer records and electronic health care, the systems that eventually
we’ll all talk to each other really well and you go see your your primary care
physician and then your urologist and then your gynecologist and all your
records in one place. It’s the best! It’s the best care that you can get!
