facility, located with the hospital’s main building, each of Rhode Island Hospital’s
superb amenities is afforded to you, including a pharmacy, cafeteria, a gift shop, and a
full-service bank. Our Rehab Care team provides therapy for patients recovering from surgery,
trauma, stroke, and other neurological setbacks so they can regain lost function and live
as independently, as possible. Our rehab liasons work with patients and families to ensure
efficient admission to the Inpatient Rehabilitation unit. We create an immediate plan for your
care before discharge from any acute care hospital. This allows for a seamless transition,
enhanced experience, and faster recover. Therapy is underway within 24 hours of admission.
Our physiatrist, a physician who specializes in rehabiliation, directs and oversees your
care. Depending on your needs, other specialists may include physician specialists, hospitalists,
Neuropsychologists,registered nurses, certified nursing assistants, social workers, registered
dieticians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech language pathologists,
recreational therapists, and case managers. Physical therapists assists with regaining
strength, balance, and coordination. Occupational therapy helps you become as independent as
possible in performing daily tasks like eating, drinking, dressing, bathing, and cooking.
Speech language pathology helps improve swallowing ability. The relearning of language and communication
skills, improvement of memory, and other cognitive capabilities. During your stay, rehab nurses
and certified nursing assistants provide a therapeutic and holisitc environment to help
you maximize your physical, psychosocial, and spiritual health. A case manager assists
with discharge planning and addressing post discharge service. A social worker is available
