Ground breaking for new health clinic

AFTER YEARS OF PLANNING AND FUNDRAISING — METHODIST HOSPITAL AND KOUNTZE MEMORIAL LUTHERAN CHURCH BROKE GROUND ON A NEW COMMUNITY HEALTH CLINIC IN MIDTOWN TODAY THE CHURCH’S SENIOR PASTOR AND THE DIRECTOR OF THE NEW CLINIC SPOKE AT A BRIEF SERVICE TODAY — MEMBERS THEN WALKED TO THE NEW LOCATION BEHIND THE CHURCH AT 26TH AND DOUGLAS — WHILE METHODIST OPERATES A SMALLER COMMUNITY CLINIC NOW — HOSPITAL OFFICIALS SAY THE NEW FACILITY WILL ALLOW DOCTORS TO REACH HUNDREDS MORE — THEY ALSO SAY THE LOCATION WILL ALLOW THEM TO REACH POPULATIONS THAT MIGHT OTHERWISE NOT SEEK MEDICAL CARE — “THIS COVERS A GAP IN OUR CITY. A GAP FOR PEOPLE WHO CANNOT PROVIDE ANY FUNDS FOR HEALTH CARE. THEY DON’T NEED TO WITH US, ALSO WITH PRESCRIPTION DRUGS.” “WHEN WE MOVE FROM THE CURRENT SPACE TO THE NEW LOCATION, THE CLINIC SPACE WILL ESSENTIALLY TRIPLE IN SIZE AND WE HAVE MORE EXAM ROOMS, MORE EDUCATION ROOMS, MORE SERVICES FOR OUR PATIENTS.” HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE GO TO THE CHURCH’S GROWING PANTRY — AND DOCTOR NORTHAM SAYS THEY HOPE TO REACH PATIENTS IN THAT GROUP THE CLINIC WILL OPEN NEXT YEAR
