Family Medicine in Carroll, Iowa | Dr. Shaun Quam | McFarland Clinic

So I’m originally from Urbandale, Iowa. I got my undergraduate degree at Central College
in Pella. I came back to Des Moines University where
I got my Doctor of Osteopathic degree and then trained at Broadlawns for three years
for residency. I decided I wanted to become a doctor at a
young age. My father is a physician in Des Moines, and
watching his interaction with patients really guided me in the right direction. I love the interaction, and that’s why I went
into family practice. I love building relationships. My area of interest is men’s health and sports
medicine, but I treat patients of all ages for chronic and acute conditions. When a patient comes to see me, you will expect
a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. That starts with my nurses. All questions will be answered and all conditions
will be explained. “Extraordinary Care, Every Day” to me means
quality care, compassionate care, and easy access. I pride myself in being able to work every
patient in that calls in that particular day. When I’m not working, I enjoy spending my
free time with my two kids who are both under the age of three. If I do get free time from work and them,
you’ll often see me out on the bike paths either running or biking or in the trees of
a golf course. I’m also a big sports fanatic and like to
stay up to date on both Hawkeyes and Cyclones.
