So as an interventional cardiologist, the
field has been changing significantly but
it was initially basically where we would
do balloons and stents and open up blockages
in heart arteries.
Now the field has expanded greatly.
I actually focus a little bit more with my
Idid a fellowship in structural heart disease
at Cedars-Sinai where learned to do MitraClip.,
which is clipping the mitral valve for mitral
Spent some time doing aortic valve replacements
through a percutaneous approach; through the
And also did PFO/ASD closures, WATCHMAN devices
which is a treatment for atrial fibrillation
to help reduce stroke risk.
Also spent some time doing endovascular techniques
to help peripheral vascular disease patients
to help treat critical limb ischemia and acute
Love medicine; love taking care of patients
and in the whole academic career always come
back to continuity of care and that’s what
lead me to cardiology specifically.
I like taking care of patients long-term.
I like having seeing patients grow and obviously
be treated through all their issues.
And that’s why cardiology and the acuteness
of cardiology really interested me.
