  2. As a diabetic, I was in ketosis before I got diagnosed and the endocrinologist told me that it is not good to be in ketosis, so is it actually safe( I know I can’t due to I need glucose) for normal people to be in ketosis. Plus will this lead to someone being in keto acidosis?

  3. Dr Mercola says that you shouldn't stay on ketogenic for long periods of time. You can also get similar benefits from intermittent fasting. Best wishes

But can a type 1 dieabeatec (me) do this diet I'm 15 and I have struggled with being over weight and I started to lose weight super fast but then I found out I was dieabeatict and I was going into ketoacidosis Wich is a lot like the keto diet just you know the whole acoma thing 🤨🤔😬😭 "I just want to be skinny HELP"

  7. With all due respect on the claim that LDL is bad cholesterol, that is very very old medical school. LDL is not bad and the potential risks you presented can be refuted. Sugar and lectins is the number one problem in our food. Reduction of sugar and wiping it completely is the answer. LDL transports cholesterol from the liver to cells, all cells need cholesterol to function properly. LDL is a super anti oxidant and prevents cancer. It makes vitamins especially vit D, hormones, steroids, cortisol, testosterone, progesterone, estrogen as well. Doctors prescribe statins to reduce cholesterol not knowing the culprit is sugar increases in the body that causes strokes, not cholesterol. Poor LDL circulates to mend the issue and it’s buildup in the arteries is mistaken with clots that occur there which is the problem of high sugar in the blood. If you consume 1 pound of butter, blood cholesterol barely increases to 1%. Stress increases that by making the liver increase cholesterol up to 400%. Liver produces between 3-4 grams of cholesterol daily to insure cell maintenance. Do you know that new born babies are using colostrum in milk from (moms mammary glad) and function on Ketosis! Why don’t babies then die of heart attacks and strokes? LDL has nothing to do with strokes. Please don’t call LDL bad cholesterol because it’s not! People need to know that consuming good fats never makes you sick. Oh and I have never felt better on any diet but the keto diet. It’s a lifestyle, not a periodic term diet as you mention. @Thomas DeLauer.

  9. No to alcohol is incorrect. Spirits have no carbs, wine is low carb, and there are many low beers. It is annoying when people call a keto diet unsustainable. It is like telling a smoker that quitting smoking is unsustainable because they wont be able to have a cigarette when they feel like it.

  10. I don't understand this argument about why it is unsustainable or difficult to adhere to. People may cheat and have ice cream because sugar is addictive.. that addiction is the entire root of the problem. But saying keto is therefore unsustainable is like saying smoking cessation is unsustainable and therefore people shouldn't bother quitting cigs because nicotine is addictive.

  11. This is overall a great unbiased opinion. One thing I'll mention since you said "no alcohol" at 3:30 is that gin and white wine won't knock you out of keto, at least according to Dr Eric Berg. Any thoughts?

  12. I hate keto because the companies who have keto diets often over simplify diets. Not all diets work for everyone and depend a lot on someone’s individual body. Also many keto diets suggest people don’t have many fruits and vegetables and instead suggest supplements. They also often don’t suggest people do lots of exercises on many keto diets which bothers me because exercising isn’t just important for weight-loss but just overall health in general. I’m a big believer that people should always talk to a doctor or consult a registered Dietitian before just following a diet that is on tv.

  13. Wow that potential harms section was not really given any explanation. It would be interesting to hear from you what the effects are of long term ketogenesis that we do know of. Maybe the untreated phase of type 1 diabetes is good to discuss too? Great video.

  14. for me this is not correct. Keto got rid of my sugar cravings, so after a long time I really believe keto is sustainable

  18. you want evidence on long term effects from eating keto? look at the inuit. their traditional diet contains almost no carbs. they have survived for centuries eating keto.

  19. I'm a TD1, of course, you don't recommend the Keto Diet, you are supporting Big Pharma telling diabetic to eat the ADA diet (40 – 60% carbs). I've been told this lie for 50 years until I read Dr. Bersteins – Diabetic Solution. I still fight with my Endo, saying that an average 83 mg/dl glucose (normal) is too low.

  20. Mike, love your videos. Concerning the keto diet, which I was fond of starting, you should talk about the side effects of keto diet considering foods with high oxalate content. People with GI disorders (without being aware of them) go into ketogenic diet with full blown spinach, kale, nuts, cacao intake, and end up having not only kidney stones but all the problems that come with oxalate build up:

  21. You forgot to include you have to bone up on your electrolytes before entering Keto. I've been on it for 1.5 years. I went out of for a while and when I went back into it, I increased my electrolyte intake to decrease the symptoms of the Keto flu. It worked. The first time I did it, I had the flu for a few days. My second time, I had the flu for about 4 hours.

    Also, once you're completely fat-adapted, you can cheat a little (meaning going over the recommended 20 grams of carbs per day) and still remain in a ketogenic state. At least that's what I experienced after I checked for Ketones the next day. I was still running moderate to large.

  25. Once you go keto for a while you no longer even want those things. you begin to see sugar like everyone else use to see fats. sugar begins to feel like empty calories and tastes really bad. plus you will feel great (young) again. like you can conquer the world. sugar is poison.
