Andra Munteanu, MD – Rush University Medical Center

I try to address every question, every issue,
every concern — make sure that everything gets done. And I don’t feel comfortable unless they’re
comfortable that they know what just happened. Sometimes patients leave the exam room and
they’re like, “I don’t know what just happened.” So I like to give a lot of explanation and
education. Sometimes people do not know what they’re
saying no to — like, for example, “I don’t get a flu shot because I’m gonna get the
flu.” So that’s something that you have to spend
a little bit of time to explain — how it works and what does it protect against — and
then if they still say, “No. Thank you. I don’t want a flu shot,” then it’s
their decision to make. It always boils down to the same thing. It’s individual patients and individual
needs.
