2015 Best Consulting Physician at Johns Hopkins Community Physicians – Daniel Schwartz, M.D.

(flowing instrumental music)>>I work in both the inpatient
and outpatient settings, and I perform and interpret a variety of non-invasive imaging studies including transesophageal
echocardiography, non-invasive peripheral vascular imaging, echocardiography and nuclear imaging. I also run the non-invasive vascular studies and laboratory for the Bethesda and Rockville locations. I benefit greatly from
wonderful leadership that is able to combine
the incredible balance between allowing us freedom
to act independently, but also providing wonderful support. And here, I’m speaking of
Drs. Colliver and Bigham down here in Montgomery County. We also benefit greatly
from Dr. Joe Marine who has been a wonderful facilitator in terms of connecting us to
Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore so we can provide optimal care for our most complicated patients. Identify mentors and role models. Number two, a teamwork approach
is absolutely critical. We see this more and more in cardiology in the areas of revascularization as well as heart valve disease, where the optimal patient experience really comes about when we have cardiovascular imaging
experts, clinicians, interventionalists and cardiac surgeons all working together. And finally, to commit to
a culture of excellence and constant improvement.
