๐Ÿฅ WHAT HAPPENS AFTER CF CLINIC ๐Ÿฅ

You need to just reinstate I am just a normal human who needs to eat, drink, sleep, and poop. All the things. ♬ Oh, you gotta breathe, breathe, breathe, breathe ♬ ♬ Let it go and let it be, be, be ♬ Good morning! Where are we? we’re just leaving clinic and this is what we do after clinic. Right now we’re going to get blood work. Let’s do that. [Peter] Alright. ♬ gentle music ♬ If you want to see… what clinic was like, you can go watch yesterday’s vlog. But we’re dividing today into two vlogs because we want to show you what happens after clinic and first step is to get blood work. Ah! [Mary burps] Oops, excuse me. Next step is burp and leave with blood work done. Blood and a burp. And now what do you want to do? Freedom! We’ll, uh, call the car and uh, get in the car and go probably get some lunch. [Mary] And there’s our car. Lets go! Growing up with cystic fibrosis and going to the doctors frequently, one of the things my parents did was after our doctor’s visit, they tried to do something fun… to kind of redeem the day. If the hospital visit was hard, or even if it was a good day they would try to, uh… find something fun to do in the city while we were in the city or get some special treat on the way home, like an ice-cream cone or something like that. So Peter and I have also kind of adopted that idea. We try to get some Chipotle or something that tastes good and I used to get, every time we left I used to get a grape soda from the soda machine in the parking garage. But I guess I kind of wore that out. I don’t know. I’m not in the mood anymore. But we often go to this Chipotle and um… it’s a fun kind of get your mind off of what just happened and… Well, really, I think part of what it is is re-humanizing. So, you know, you were just in a medical environment getting poked and all the things and so now you need to just reinstate I am just a normal human who needs to eat, drink, sleep, and poop. All the things. So we’re gonna eat. [Peter] That’s right. Also, I often have a clinic headache after clinic, so I usually sit in the car and Peter runs to get the food and then we sit in the car and eat it like a little car picnic. Um… usually I’m just not really feeling up to going and sitting in a restaurant. But sometimes we do. Occasionally, like if, oh my goodness gracious. We almost got hit by a car. If we have a gift card to a restaurant or something, sometimes we go and try to make a special date out of it. But I think today it’s so sunny out and I think sitting in the car, eating our Chipotle and waiting for my tylenol to kick in and then maybe we can stop at a store on the way home. Okay, we’re gonna go and try not to get hit. [Mary] Plus we get to find exciting things like this truck that was just honking for a really long time. [Mary] So there goes Peter to go find us some lunch. [Mary] I literally gasped when I saw the cheese. Just the way you like it. [Mary] It’s my favorite part. We need to separate this out a little bit [Mary] Cheese on my side… [Mary] and that’s all, please. [Peter] Their cheese is so good. I don’t know- [Mary] It’s so magical. Okay, you guys, if you have ever worked at Chipotle, or you currently work at Chipotle, please tell us the magic of the cheese. [Peter] Like, do you put drugs in it or what? [Mary] Peter! All right, the next treat we’re gonna get… Mary gasped cuz… What would make Mary gasp- [Mary] Besides that pile of cheese? Succulents! Anyways… I’m gifting my succulents to my friends. Yeah, we’re getting rid of succulents right now, we aren’t buying more. [Mary] Because we’re gonna move soon. But the next treat for this afternoon is to get buy one get one at Starbucks. But that’s not till three, so until then we came into a store to just look at furniture and dream about our new house. These need some love. They need some love? [heavy sigh] [mumbling] ♬ gentle music ♬ [Ollie lapping water] Is that good? All right, we got our Starbucks. Check. We downed them. Uh no, I’ll get it, but we’re gonna… Yep. Or I’ll just stick in my pocket. It is up. But we’re gonna run into another store now. Vitamins! CF vitamins! All right, here we go. Here’s how it goes. We ran some errands… and I looked back at Ollie and I said are you deadly? Like, dead? Peter said… We’re all deadly. We’re all deadly. This is, this is how it goes after clinic. We eat some things, we have some fun, And then we crash. So it’s time to crash. As always. [both] We will see you tomorrow. Good night. Ollie, can you say goodnight? [Mary talking as Ollie] No, I’m too deadly. Goodnight everybody. ♬♬

  8. Your after clinic traditions remind me of our routine after my dadโ€™s endocrinologist appointments over 60 miles from home. We visit Trader Joeโ€™s, find lunch, and buy donuts to bring back for my momโ€™s office.

  9. After my doctor visit, I just have to hurry home because I take a lot of buses home. It takes 3 hours to get to my doctor visit. I donโ€™t mind at all because I have done it many years now. My appointment is usually before lunch so I do like simple lunch before I go see my doctor. I sometimes eat at home and then go if I have a late afternoon appointments.

  10. I have three sons and they are around your ages ,I think why I love watching your vlogs so much, that, and your strength and positive outlook but not afraid to show emotions ,,Plus I grown to know you as part of my internet family ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. My pick me up…go home and go to bed…I have to take a bus so it's always about 2-3 busses to get to my apt then another2 busses to get home again. An all day thing. Usually an hour wait each bus at 35-45 min each bus. I'm so tired I just want to go home. I stopped making 9:00 apts. I have to be up by almost 7 catch bus buy at least 7:45. Hour -downtown. Another one hopefully get one in time to get me on time for a 9:00 apt. That's pushing it. I just don't do that I give myself more time. I know crazy right??? My diet mt dew when I get home and relax. I think that's my pick me up. lol

  12. According to Google the secret behind Chipotle Cheese is that it is a blend of White Cheddar and Monterey Jack. ๐Ÿคท I've NEVER had Chipotle so…

  13. Just had this idea: Since you said that you have worn out the grape soda from the vending machine, you should go to Disney's merchandise website and search "grape soda." You can get a grape soda pin from the movie UP from there and wear it when you go to clinic! Or whatever tests you have done once you move to NC. ๐Ÿ™‚

  14. Just curious, do you ever drive Mary?? I donโ€™t think Iโ€™ve ever seen you driving. Is it because the coughing fits could interfere or do you just not like driving

  15. Hi Guys , Treats are good !! I am glad you guy`s had a great day , wow you sure like cheese. I hope you were able to make some headway with the insurance stuff , all my best with that. Thanks for the vlog , take care , C U tomorrow ๐Ÿ™‚ Gary ๏ฃฟ

  16. Where did you get Ollieโ€™s harness? I too have a service dog and a harness would love a harness like this for the hot summer.

  17. I'm praying that IV antibiotics go easy on you this round and really help your sinuses and lungs. You deserve a break, pretty lady.

  18. Hi guys! I just heard a song from a Christian singer Blake McGrath that reminds me of your unconditional faith in God called "let you love me. You give me hope when things look so uncertain that God's always with us.

  19. I literally just realized you guys are moving into the โ€œheat wave zoneโ€ a.k.a what people in Florida deal with on a daily basis but northern for some reason

  20. After I go to clinic and have blood tests, I treat myself. I go to Starbucks, order an iced Chia Latte with soy milk( lactose intolerant). Then shopping mostly at the Dollar Tree, Michael's, Hobby Lobby, Target. I also like to thrift shop too! It all depends on how I am feeling.

  21. the hospital I grew up going to (CCMC in Hartford…. formerly just Hartford Hospital) used to have a Friendly's in the lobby below the parking garage, and my mom and I used to go there for a milkshake after all my cardiac appointments. Your story reminded me of that.

  22. So glad to see that you guys had a fun day after the clinic…and now Iโ€™m craving a burrito bowl ๐Ÿคฃ praying that you do well on IVs๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’•

  23. Son gave me a treat for enduring 30 days of Levaquin side effects… a fig tree, a tiny scotch pine to be inside christmas tree later and Les Mis DVD. Love doesn't stop the feeling terrible but acts like aloe vera on sunburn…takes away the worst of the sting.

  24. Haven't heard the 'PETERRR!' in a long time. Aww, I've missed it. Hope you're having a good day. Sending positive thoughts to both of you!

  25. Bought my very first Frey life shirt I so canโ€™t wait. Let us know when water bottles are back. Ps I have chipotle today too

  26. Finally! My years of Chipotle knowledge comes in handy! It's just monetary jack cheese. Shredded fresh every day.

  27. GOD's blessings! my pick me up after doctor's visit or even hospitalization, is to go straight home and get on my computer and follow my friends (you) on youtube ๐Ÿ™‚

  28. I go to Starbucks after seeing my congenital heart team and when I go see my asthma doctor. I go get my caramel Frappuccino. A nice treat after my appointments.

  29. Chipotle uses a mix of two cheeses. Monterey jack and white cheddar and are grated fresh every morning and afternoon.

  30. I hope that burp didnt stink…it was all contained in your mask lol it made me laugh so much! Your awesome!

  31. Orthopรฆdic clinic does the same to us, especially if we have to trek into central London (my hospital has two sites, one near us and one near the BBC in central London) xxxxxxxxxxxx

  32. I'm glad you reward yourself after all you have to go through at clinic. God Bless. ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ™

  33. -Iโ€™m just a normal human who needs to… poop, all the things. ๐Ÿ’›

  34. โ€œLike do you put drugs in it or what?โ€
    โ€œPETER!!โ€ ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ thatโ€™s made me laugh.

  35. Im so glad you two make fun a priority. Mmmmmmm…I was treated to chipotle today. It's one of my favorite places to get take out. I typically want to go straight to bed after a dr visit. They're draining!

  36. My mom always did the same thing for my sister and me when we were kids. We didn't go do cool stuff because a lot of times we weren't feeling good, we got strep throat all the time and when I was little and that was cause for a IM shot in the butt of penicillin which my sister would have to be literally chased around the office screaming for. It took my mom forever to wrestle her to the ground and calm her down enough to get the shot. We would all be worn out with frayed nerves and pain or sickness after the appointments at our neighborhood pediatrician who was so cool, my family loved him and we each saw him until we were 18. After any medical, eye doctor, whatever appointment, we always got to pick out a soda or candy (both of which we were not allowed to have usually otherwise) or Baskin Robbins which made us feel all better, well, the crying would stop anyway. It was definitely a positive thing I remember from my childhood that I implimented with my children. One of which is critically ill so my oldest has always gotten sister benefits to our trips to the doctor or hospital. Having sick kods is so hard. Your mom has to be superwoman!

  37. Glad you had some fun after clinic! Iโ€™m praying these antibiotics will help you feel better and have minimal side effects.

  38. OMG THE CHIPOTLE NEAR THE PEIRCE TOWER!!!! THATS ME CHIPOTLE OMG

Iโ€™m also on a first name basis with them.

Also that intersection in front of Landmark is so dangerous

  39. Hello to my favorite couple๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ of
Please forgive me for my OCD, but Mary's seatbelt is twisted so it makes me want to reach through my tablet and fix it!!!๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ™ƒ Sorry but I just had to!!! So excited for you Mary and to travel this with you both. God bless you both.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

  40. Mary! I sent an insta DM about a Durham coffee shop (Parker and Otis), but I forgot to mention a plant shop: the Zen Succulent! Both are even close to the hospital! The Zen Succulent also has an insta, if you want to start making plans ๐Ÿ˜Ž

  41. Iโ€™m glad to know other people do post clinic pick me ups haha! I always go to this one cool diner place and get an orange vanilla twist ice cream cone and maybe a burger! My dr is 2 hours away so I try to always make a day of it!

  42. You two need to look back at the spot of the second on the couch…๐Ÿคฃ, both of you will look the same in your old age!! Love it!

  43. Did you speed up the intro music? It been sounding a little bit, uncomfortably fast to me lately. Maybe it's been like that since you first started using it. I'm highly aware of the fact that I'm not the most observant person on the planet. Not even remotely close actually. Lol

  44. YES THEY PUT A MAGIC SPELL FOR THERE CHESSE FOR YOU TO FALL IN LOVE WITH IT IT'S CALLED THE LOVE CHESSE POTION LOL LOL

  45. Ha ha I loved your comment of rehumanizing after CF clinic. I embarrassing can grow a full beard and mustache. When I shave at least every two days. I always say "that's better I am rewomanised now". Don't mean to belittle your tough CF disease you suffer โค

  46. โ€œPeeterrrr!โ€ Lol
And both of you sitting on the leather couch nodding your heads lol your so much alike. ๐Ÿ’•

  47. Every time I see Peter I think of the bird incident and I have a good laugh. ๐Ÿ™‚ Thank you for posting that video!

  48. Love the idea of doing something fun. I have lots of doctors appointments too and and I try to something fun too.

  49. you guys always go to places near my house that I recognize lol like that target plaza I wish I could run into you before you move!

  50. I have a question I donโ€™t have cf but I love watching your channel you have taught me so much about cf but please can you tell me how Oliver helps u as a working dog love u all so much Louise from London England xxx

  51. When I gotta go to my infusions, my mom gets me mac and cheese or a cookie from panera bread (because there's one in the hospital where I am), and before I go, my dad gets me a really good cup of tea- so now when ever I have a really hard day, I try to brew myself some good loose leaf tea (Strawberries and cream is one of my favorites!) If I can't handle food (Because crohn's, lol) we usually go with a weaker, but still good tea or a book/bookmark or something nice like that.

  52. I had to have bloods taken today too. We're trying to work out what's causing me to have itching. It used to happen for 24 hours & go away for a while, but it's now insane & won't go away for more than a few days! It could be my liver getting worse (I have mild liver issues), it could be my kidneys not coping with the summer heat, it could be MS, or it could be my CFS/ME (one of my multiple chronic illnesses). The bloods will only show if it's my liver or kidneys, so I may have to have more tests afterwards if it's not them. I'm trying not to think about those tests unless I have to have them. I like to treat myself when I go out too, especially after medical appointments. I usually treat myself to a Subway.

  53. Maybe this is been asked before but I was just wondering if you could pre-dose yourself with Tylenol before you go into clinic to prevent a clinic headache?

  54. Love watching yall, gets my mind off thing and yall our an inspiration to me… and also yall should make a shirt that says "And All The Things"๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

  55. Mary โ€“ Around 1:24–1:27, it totally blends your hair with Ollie boyโ€™s…until he comes out the side of your head! Thanks for giving me a smile amidst your hard clinic day. I love hearing yโ€™all talk about decorating your new house, while also staying together, enjoying the present as much as possible.

  56. Actually, those vitamins are not just CF vitamins. I'm on Zenpep due to my EDS and I have the same vitamins!
